FAQs

How much floor space do I need?

Plan for the whole mat plus room to stand beside it. The mats here run from about 8.7 ft long (Perfect Practice Rollback) to about 13 ft (Wellputt 13ft Performance), and the PUTT-A-BOUT is 3 ft wide. Tape out the footprint and check doorways and walking routes before you order.

Does a longer mat mean longer putts?

A mat's stated length covers the whole mat. The ball starts short of one end and the target sits inside the other, so your usable putting distance is shorter. PuttOUT's roughly 12-foot mat, for example, marks distances up to 10 feet.

Cup or printed target?

Choose a cup if holing the ball keeps you interested. A printed target lets you watch where the ball stops and practice pace.

Will it roll like my course's greens?

Do not assume the speed will match. Makers list speeds from about 10 to 14 on the Stimpmeter, and Perfect Practice says its mat runs faster on a hard floor than on thick carpet. Use the mat for a repeatable home drill, then check your feel on the practice green before a round.
