Before you buy

  • Measure the floor and line the hitting strip up with the middle of your net.
  • On concrete, compare thickness and the hitting strip. Several makers design these to absorb impact.
  • Check whether the strip takes real tees and where a launch monitor would sit.

FAQs

How much space does a hitting mat need?

The mats here run from 5 × 4 ft (GoSports PRO) to 6 × 10 ft for the largest Carl's HotShot. Add room to stand and swing, and line the hitting strip up with the middle of your net.

Can I use real tees?

On some. The SIGPRO Softy's strip, Carl's Standard strip, and Fiberbuilt's friction-fit tee holder take real tees. The GoSports mat comes with rubber tees.

Buying for someone else?

Ask where they will hit, which net they use, and whether they want real tees. A mat that suits a garage net may be too large for a spare room.
